Sneak Peek: Maddie [St. Rose Infant Photographer]

I got to meet up with my old friend Maddie for her 6 month pictures in the park last week. Maddie is never quite sure of what she thinks of this whole crazy photography thing, but we still got some sweet smiles and lovely pictures in her pretty new spring dress.

Sneak Peek: Rori + Junior [New Orleans Maternity Photographer]

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Rori and Junior in uptown New Orleans to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their baby girl with a fun and fabulous maternity session. At 30 weeks, Rori was still tiiiiiny with the cutest little baby bump. R + J (and R's parents too!) - I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

Sneak Peek: John [New Orleans Child Photographer]

I have a couple very patient clients that are awaiting their sneak peeks - and this lovely family is one of them. The S family contacted me for pictures of their two year old son, John, while they were in New Orleans visiting family. Like most two-year olds, John was far more interested in exploring the park than getting his picture taken. Luckily exploring the park makes for great pictures!

Ten months ago today...

at 12:31 in the afternoon I was blessed to give birth to my second beautiful son. It's hard to believe that time has flown so quickly. Today he crawls like a madman, pulls up on everything, cruises around the living coffee table and laughs hysterically at everything his brother says or does to him. Logan is truly just a sweet, happy baby and a pleasure to be around. I can't believe that in just eight or nine weeks my bouncing baby boy will turn ONE. It's so bittersweet. I love watching him grow and develop and reach new milestones, yet I'm so sad to see that chubby, jolly baby slowly fading from his sweet face.

Casting Call: Newborn Multiples

There's something about newborn sessions that always gets me. Photographing those sweet, tiny, squishy bundles of joy lets me relive the excitement of my own boys' births. Those breathless, sleepless first days of wonder, euphoria and exhaustion.

Well, I recently had the opportunity to photograph newborn twins (check out Ella + Ryan) and like a baby junkie, I need more! So I'm looking for two families expecting a multiple birth. If you know someone that fits the bill, please forward them my information.

They get:
- One free session (session fee waived)

- One free print, 8x10 or smaller, from the session

The criteria:
- The newborn session must take place within the first two weeks after the babys' birthes or, if the babies are in the hospital for two weeks or more, within the first week after they are released from the hospital

- You must be willing to sign a model release which allows me to use the images in my portfolio and on my website

- All sessions must take place on-location in the metro New Orleans area

Harrison Avenue Marketplace

Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of exhibiting at Lakeview's Harrison Avenue Marketplace. If you're not familiar with the Marketplaces, they are a great opportunity to sample yummy local food (Drago's anyone?), listen to music, check out local artists and businesses, and visit with neighbors. As future Lakeview residents, my family and I have made a point of attending of these gatherings for the past year and each one has been great fun.

But this was my first time on the other side of the booth. I have to say, it was so much fun to meet so many nice families and talk about photography. And I had a great response to my drawing for a free session. In fact, that's what this post is really all about. I grabbed the fish bowl full of entries yesterday and let Dylan pick the winner...

And the winner is...
Heather Johnson!
Heather, I'll email you shortly about your free session. And for everyone else that submitted on Wednesday, keep your eyes on your email for a special offer for you too.

Urban Maternity Casting Call is now CLOSED!

Thank you!!

Sneak Peek: Ella + Ryan (20 days old) [Destrehan Newborn Photographer]

What's better than a sweet bundle of newborn goodness? Two sweet bundles of newborn goodness of course! Ella and Ryan had a long journey into this world, but mom and dad are clearly enthralled with their new little arrivals. Check out the pictures below and you'll see why.

Now this is a handful!

I think she's saying, "When is this crazy photograher lady going to leave us alone???"

Sneak Peek: Adam (9 days old) [New Orleans Newborn Photographer]

This little guy joins one big brother and two big sisters in one big, happy, crazy household. He has quite the adventure ahead of him, but at 9 days old, I don't think he's quite realized what he's in for yet!

New Casting Call!

Casting Call 1: Urban Maternity
I'm looking for two fun couples for maternity sessions in the French Quarter or Uptown New Orleans. I'll be doing one session in each location so first choice goes to the first taker. :)

The details:

You must be available one or more of the following dates for the session:

Sunday, March 15, late afternoon (around 4 p.m.)
Sunday, March 22, late afternoon (around 4 p.m.)
Sunday, March 29, late afternoon (around 4 p.m.)
Sunday, April 5, late afternoon (around 4 p.m.)

You must be between 28 and 34 weeks pregnant at the time of the session. There will be walking involved so the earlier end of that timeframe is better.

You must be willing to allow the images to be used for promotional purposes by Amy Drouet Photography.

You must be game for some fun, playful and non-traditional maternity images!

You get:

Your maternity session fee is waived.

A free 8x10 image from your maternity session.

You can upgrade to my maternity/newborn session package for just a $75 session fee.

Spread the word! And if you're interested in snagging one of these sessions, email me at amydrouet@yahoo.com ASAP with your preferred date and location. Remember, I'm only taking two couples for this casting call and the first couple to reply gets first first choice of locations!

(And keep your eye out for another non-maternity casting call coming soon...)

iiiiiiiiiiiit's liiiiiiiive!

Sneak Peek: Zachary (10 days old)

I had the opportunity to meet and photograph my cousin Nicole's recently arrived baby boy, Zachary, while I was up in Boston last week. Mom and Dad are clearly enthralled with their new addition and it's easy to see why. :)

Where I've been

It's been a busy couple of weeks! We had barely packed up our beads and ladders and said goodbye to another fun Mardi Gras before it was time for Logan and I to hop a jet to the northern tundra.

I was actually surpised when we emerged from Greene Airport in Providence, RI. It was chilly of course. But not that chilly. It was pretty comfortable really. So Logan and I went about our merry business of visiting family (including a little newborn session with my newest cousin - who was conveniently born eight days before I arrived) which eventually brought us to my sister's house in southern New Hampshire for my niece's third birthday party. The visit was great. The party was fun. But we were ready to get home come Monday morning. Until a nor'easter dumped fourteeen inches of snow on my sister's house late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

Needless to say, flights were cancelled and Logan and I hunkered down for an extended stay. Bummer. In the end though we were able to catch an early flight Tuesday morning and get home just about 24 hours after our originally scheduled arrival. All's well that ends well I guess!

And just because I don't want to post without a picture... check out these chunker legs. I just love 'dem rolls. :)
